i’m glad that you got your camera back. I am currently taking travel
photography as my electives at brooks and the rule of thumb is that your
equipment shall never be apart with your body @ all times by all means
unless you are at home or driving. especially around water. camera straps
around your wrist or your neck. hands slightly on camera even if its on a
tripod so you can grab it as soon as it starts to lose balance. happy
shooting~

Glad everything worked out for you ! That’s funny you call your 5D mk2
“He”,because I call my 5D mk2 “She” lol Also, insurance is a good idea !

Did it fall in to Fresh or Salt water?

Angela, you are a darling. I like how you call your camera, him and he. I
haven’t had the misfortune of getting my camera wet and I hope it never
happens. You gave us some good tips on repairs and possible solutions.
Thanks.

i just dropped my camera in a salt water puddle and it won’t even turn on
but if it’s going to cost £500 i might aswel just buy a new body for it the
lens in fine

put it in the fridge, the fridge dries stuff out!
February 21, 2014 @ 12:06 pm
This is exactly what happened to me today i’m on a Eurotrip and a water
bottle completely drenched my camera in my bag before i realised what
happened. I kept pressing on and off and got those same messages. I put it
in rice just then does it really work? Because i read to NOT leave the
battery in but i did and kept turning it on and off. What should i do? I’m
a bit impatient.

Also i have a 5D Mark II i’m so scared for it what should i do?

i dropped my camera at the beach I was hit by a strong wave and it fell in
the water. I picked it up, took out the batter and sd card now i’m drying
it in a rice bag. I hope it works
November 29, 2014 @ 9:51 pm
Please get to the point. Too much meaningless small talk to say that Canon
fixed her problem.
December 25, 2014 @ 8:34 pm
my brother spilled water onto my lens but the water had completely soaked
the SD card and battery

Ahh! Good to see you got it back. That was an expensive repair though!
I actually dropped my T1i in a bowl of dog water, like a really big bowl ,
and rice and such never worked. I was afraid its repair would have been
that much, which was the total cost of the camera in the first place. lol.
It hurt that year as I shot only with my cell phone and ended up getting a
7D and really like it, but that 5D Mk 2 was what I was after! Couldn’t
afford that other G. So 500 for repair isn’t bad for that beast.
I don’t think these people realize it is a Vlog here, as I didn’t either.
But I enjoyed it regardless…Though I can see why these people are having
trouble with it, as it is one of the top things that pop up when you search
for Camera in water and fixed.

The 5D mkii is weather sealed. What lens did you have on it. The 70-200mm
f4 both versions are not weather sealed. The 24-105mm f4 is. I actually
took a strong wave while shooting at the beach for a friend. The 24-105mm
and the 5d mkiii just brushed it off and it was still working just fine.
Yes I had a small bruise from the camera hitting the top of my eye. The 5d
just brushed it off and said is that all you got!!! If I go anywhere near
water the 24-105mm is on the 5d mkiii no other lens is that was not the
first time it got wet. Three very heavy rain storms and winds did even
penetrate the weather seals. That camera is built like a tank.
