Hi, are these pallets pressure treated? If not, what do you do to them to
make them not rot or get bug infested?
July 17, 2011 @ 4:00 pm
@Hadarslover From our experience we have learned that pallets are made from
hard woods…ash, oak, etc… They are not as susceptible to
rot/infestation as soft wood. Most roofing material is not pressure
treated. This is an exposed ceiling so we will be able to see if problems
begin to occur and address them as needed. Thanks for your inquiry. 🙂

its nearly impossible to dismantle most pallets without destroying some or
all of the boards due to those crazy nails and hardwood. zdo you cut them
apart?
May 19, 2013 @ 8:41 pm
It is a challenge. I use a reciprocal saw (saws all type) with a long 10
blade made for cross cut. The blades are called the “AXE”. I bought them at
ACE Hardware. I cut through the nails between the joined lumber. Give that
a try.

Best to find out what the pallets were carrying while on the truck trailer,
train, boat, plane or while in the shipping containers or warehouses. Also
if they were sprayed with insecticide or fungicide which could be a
requirement. They might have been tossed out for a reason. Other than that
nice video.
