Bank filtration with salt intrusion from river

Bank filtration along rivers is applied in the Netherlands as well as elswhere. Sea level rise may cause the salt water wedge to penetrate deeper inland and affect existing bankfiltration plants that produce drinking water. Steady intrusion in a cross section is shown here as simulated by Seawat through mfLab as exercis of the course Geohydrology 2, TUDelft. Remco Nijzink, Delft, June 2011
