Johnny2Toke February 10, 2015 @ 1:08 am I would of used painters tape. That gorilla shit will take paint off and possibly cause more problems. Good luck. jdinky3 February 10, 2015 @ 1:08 am Theres probably no wood because thats your chimney, im no expert but id imagine its something with the fire code 27dcx February 10, 2015 @ 1:11 am Jeff, you need to spray a mold remediation chemical all over that opening before it gets sealed up! Remember what happened to Ted? You don’t want that. krazy45cat February 10, 2015 @ 1:18 am Are you renting or is it the land loards problem ??? joseph meaney February 10, 2015 @ 1:22 am man theres nothing worse when a contractor dosent know what there at or cut corners to get it done faster and cheaper, then down the road stuff like this happens, glad your keeping a positive attitude, take care buddy! DonRig13 Beer Reviews February 10, 2015 @ 1:38 am Happens to a lot of chimneys surprisingly, flashing isn’t done right to start with. Good luck and cheers! David Goodridge February 10, 2015 @ 1:43 am Sorry Brother.I like the way your keeping it in perspective. Guinelle1 February 10, 2015 @ 1:54 am i thought you rent? isnt this your landlords problem? ArtisanTony February 10, 2015 @ 1:58 am Dang chimney flashing never seems to get installed right. And you are right, can leak small amounts where you may not notice until NOW 🙂 Good luck Jeff.If was up there I would fix it for you cheap 🙂 Julius Gonzo February 10, 2015 @ 2:16 am Jeff, agree with ya man, sometimes the house or car stuff just bites us on the butt. If misery loves company, all of us go through it. Be patient, one step at a time stuff, and hang in there. ocularis73 February 10, 2015 @ 2:33 am Home repairs suck, especially in the winter. Good thing you’re renting. Good luck, man! Eric Wessells February 10, 2015 @ 2:58 am Isn’t this the landlords problem? Why are you stuck with the repair work? Max Glick February 10, 2015 @ 3:11 am Which knife did you use to cut out the dry wall? ontarioman100 February 10, 2015 @ 3:12 am It’s Black cause its likely got mold damage i would get a professional to look into how far it has spread on either side of them walls!!!! KnifeTex February 10, 2015 @ 3:13 am Ah, the joys of ownership. Been there, done that. I feel for ya Hoss. Dasdfjkl February 10, 2015 @ 3:32 am Wow that is a big job. Most likely the roof plywood or sheeting around the chimney is rotted and will need to be replaced. I feel for you guy, I would be very upset seeing that. Will your house insurance pay for it? May want to put in a claim or have the house owner put in a claim. Greg Cumming February 10, 2015 @ 3:41 am Hey man you need a Vapour berrier (poly) to separate that wood from condensation. But easier said then done in an older house, but that’s what happens. That concrete will sweat and rot that wood everytime. Shitty situation though and i feel for ya. I’m gonna go back and like all of the videos i can for ya man, hope it turns out ok, keep us posted ! Dasdfjkl February 10, 2015 @ 4:03 am Looking at it again it does look like they may have done a cheap repair and the flashing and roof has since started leaking again. There is no structure against the chimney to even secure the ends of the roof sheeting. May need a whole new roof. One spot on the wall looks to have a piece of trim. Funny place for trim to be. This winter is going to make everyone’s roves have issues. SupaFlyFatGuy859 February 10, 2015 @ 4:34 am Ain’t that about a bitch! Sorry to hear about that man! Del Corbett February 10, 2015 @ 6:50 am Be sure to get all the water, mold will kill you quick! Mold remediation is expensive as hell. Stay safe! weizenale February 10, 2015 @ 7:54 am Don’t you rent that place? should be calling the landlord GOonTedgi February 10, 2015 @ 7:55 am I’ve had the same problem in my kitchen, but it’s on the ceiling and we don’t know where the water is coming from, so we’re stuck just leaving some plastic bowls to stop the water that’s still leaking somehow.
