I liked how you explained all the content that you outlined; I can see where this will help me in a project I am thinking about doing with GWT. The next tutorial I think you should do is connecting to databases and performing CRUD operations via APIs. This would be most helpful as a lot of the web apps built nowadays are data driven; maybe it’s too soon in your lecture series, but do consider it. Once again great tutorial. Mykone Saunders November 6, 2012 @ 12:50 pm Very good video. I hope we can go forward by using actual patterns like MVC, MVP, etc. But so far, very great. I am actually learning GWT right now and I ran into your video. Very good timing. Also would like if you could do other server communication like PHP, or .Net rather than Jetty/Tomcat. GWTLecturer November 6, 2012 @ 4:30 pm Well I am actually moving slowly towards doing MVC with my video’s, this video essentially focuses on the “V” part of MVC. The “C” part will introduced in the next video. after that I may put everything together and show a full MVC. Not sure yet how I will exactly separate all the content I want to talk about, I don’t plan or script these video’s much, but it will for sure be covered. zlabia2001 November 9, 2012 @ 10:44 pm This is why I like youtube. Muthu Selvam June 2, 2013 @ 3:57 pm czarek031987 June 7, 2013 @ 11:28 am Hi! Great tut! I’ve got question: why do you initialize componentPanel in constructor (10:12) and vPanel above constructor? Does it any matter or you just did it because it is possible? Chinthaka Senaratne November 17, 2013 @ 10:38 am great tutorial.thanks for uploading. sushil pathak December 30, 2013 @ 4:13 am nice tuts….thanks Michael Prentice January 15, 2014 @ 5:28 pm +Mykone Saunders makes a good point here. Calling it “Proper Architecture” is probably not quite accurate. But it is a good video for beginners to GWT. Proper Architecture these days includes some better separation of concerns to be more testable. If you’re learning GWT and you’ve figured this part out, take a look at using an EventBus and basic MVP architecture. I was hoping that this would cover some of the new panel types in GWT 2.0 (looks like you were using 2.4) like LayoutPanel, ResizeLayoutPanel, DockLayoutPanel, etc. Tomas Forslund March 5, 2014 @ 10:32 am Thank you!
